Redbelt tells the story of struggling jujitsu instructor, Mike Terry, who refuses to fight in the ring because of his principles. One night, stressed lawyer Laura Black accidentally breaks his dojo's window with the pistol from one of his students, Joe, but Mike is too poor to repair it. He does all he can to raise enough money to continue his school but faces countless obstacles including pressure from Sondra, his wife.
