Texan welder and hunter Llewelyn Moss finds a suitcase full of money when he stumbles upon several dead drug runners in the desert from a deal gone wrong. He soon becomes the target of psychopathic killer Anton Chigurh, who would eliminate anything in his path to get what he wants. The trail left by hunted and hunter is picked up by Sheriff Ed Tom Bell who has to grapple with the enormity of the crimes in the face of modern progression.
